Jesus categorically stated that love is the greatest of all the commandments. I intend to prove that this assertion is not just founded on some religious stuff, but it is the glaring truth. Here are my reasons:
Every celebration or milestone worth recognition has got something to do with love. Below are some few examples
1. Christmas is about God demonstrating his love for mankind
God gave His only begotten son to take the on human flesh and bring hope, revival, restoration and show us the kind of life our heavenly father expects of us.
2. Easter is about the greatest demonstration of love
Where Jesus laid down his love for sinners to restore man back to the glorious life God ordained for him in the days of creation.. Easter was the ultimate sacrifice
3. Independence day celebrations are based on love
We cherish independence celebrations ,because it marks our freedom as a people from our oppressors and exploiters. But independence hardly comes easily without a fight. Normally our patriarchs fought with their blood, got imprisoned and many ended up losing their lives for the love of their nation. So that posterity would have a better life than they did. Personalities like Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah and Jomo Kenyatta are celebrated around the world for their demonstration of love for their country.
4. Valentine is about love
14th of February has generally been accepted as the day of celebrating love.
Young people in relationships relish this day and have so much expectations of their partners on this day. Businesses also do their best to cash in as much as possible. There is so much love in the air on Val’s day.
But the key theme which runs in all the above celebrations is about Giving. You haven’t truly love until you give. John 3:16 tells us that “For God so loved the world that he gave”
As much as you have huge expectations of your loved ones on Val’s day, you should rather make it a priority to demonstrate your love by giving, it could be your time, help, money etc. You will be surprised at the joy, fulfilment and goodwill it will bring to your partner and more importantly to yourself.
LOVE IS NEVER ABOUT RECEIVING, IT IS ALL ABOUT GIVING,SO GO OUT THERE TODAY AND GIVE SOMETHING REALLY VALUABLE TO THE ONE YOU LOVE.
Happy Valentine Day
