‘The story of Jarius’ encounter with Jesus provides such a depth of perspective in how to get back up in life if things are spiraling downwards.

Life is a beautiful thing and the most prized asset of every human. Jesus even promised that He came s that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10)

But reality is that in the journey of life, things tend to die, mostly prematurely.

Death signifies inactivity or malfunction or  when things don’t work the way they are supposed to.

A dry cell battery may look good and healthy but won’t work in a remote control because it is dead! The same can be said of a light bulb.

Appearance is nothing if it is not complemented with proper functionality.

If you do a quick retrospection of your life you will discover that certain aspects don’t work the way it should:It could be your finances, dysfunctional family, work, ministry, etc.

You should not be anxious or give up when you are faced with dead situations because Christ clearly showed us how to deal with it.

The following is how to revive dead situations.

#1 First Seek God in Prayer

And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jarius by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

And besought him greatly, saying, my little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.  – Mar 5:22-23

Jarius daughter was at the point of death, but he knew that Jesus had the power to save the little girl, so he sought him first. I am sure there were physicians around, but he knew Christ was the ultimate answer.

I therefore challenge you that in the midst of difficulties, talk to God first. Many of us instead talk to everyone else and then only seek God as a last resort.

By default what we seek first what we have the greatest faith in. A coach will always field his best players first and resort to the average players if the best players are injured.

Prayer must always be your first option. Resorting to prayer as a last option rarely works, because it is a blatant proof of lack of faith in the God you are praying to.

#2 Follow God’s Instructions and Assurance

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. – Mar 5:35-36

Jarius had sought help from Jesus, and the Lord had offered to help him but things seemed to get worse. The daughter had died and it looked like there was no point in pursuing the help of Jesus.

Many at times we tend to find ourselves in situations where things seem to deteriorate after seeking God, but we don’t have to give up, we need to believe the word our master speaks to us. “Be not afraid, only believe.

#3 Get Rid of Bad Company

And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. – Mar 5:38-40

One of the greatest blockers to our breakthroughs is the kind of people we surround ourselves with.Until you get rid of them, you will never get out of your situation.

They mostly come across as sympathizers, well wishers, those who care, but in reality they do not want things to get better. They derive their sense of power in “reaching out to you” which makes them feel important.

Jarius house was full of mourners who laughed at Jesus when he said the child will rise again. If they genuinely cared about his situation, they would have rejoiced and joined their faith with Jesus in bringing the child back to life.

It is time you sit down and reflect on all the people you call “loved ones” who patronize your pity party and ask yourself whether you prefer to stand alone and win or be with the crowd and lose.

Jesus immediately got rid of these mockers who posed as sympathizers when he arrived at Jarius house.

Key lesson is never entertain those who mock at your miracles in the name of facing reality. As the prophet Isaiah said “Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? –Isaiah 53:1

#4 Declare what the word of God says about that dead situation

And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. – Mar 5:41 -42

Jesus knew the will of God concerning the situation. The Bible declares that we shall live and not die to declare the works of the lord

No longer will babies die when only a few days old. No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life. No longer will people be considered old at one hundred! Only the cursed will die that young! –Isaiah 65:20, NLT

It is never God’s plan for anyone to die young, so Jesus enforced the will of God concerning the dead situation, held the little girl’s hand and she came back to life.

It is time for you to speak Gods will over every dead situation in your life and take that step of faith and you will see things turn around instantly!

 #5 Nourish the Revived Situation

And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat. -Mar 5:43

One important lesson Jesus taught us was the need to nourish the revived situation. It’s because if you don’t feed it, there is the tendency for it to die again.

Make sure that once you come out of the dead situation, you will not indulge in things that that resulted in that situation in the first place.

For example if the dead situation is financial crisis, do well to avoid behaviors that will land you into the same mess again.Rather practice frugality and walk in the wisdom the word of God teaches concerning finances.

As you continue to feed the situation with the word of God, it will experience uncommon life and flourish like never before

So going forward, know that you have the power over every dead situation and as you practice these steps, you will live the life of an overcomer all the days of your life.

Stay blessed
