THE SEVEN BLOGGING SECRETS EVERY BEGINNER SHOULD KNOW

INTRODUCTION

The ability to write is one of the best gifts Mother Nature endowed man with. Great thinkers are usually great writers. Writing has a subtle way of making you great, because it forces you to think and ask questions others don’t. You become more aware of yourself and your environment when you indulge in the art of writing.

The truth is that writing is hard work and emotionally draining, hence many people avoid it.

So if you have decided to join the extraordinary league of the few who are able to articulate their thoughts with the tip of a pen, then you have every right to feel special.

However I must say that most of the times, the main reason behind a writer’s inconsistency has very little to do with lack of ideas. It is rather more of a discipline issue. As long as you have something to talk about or complain to your friends, you definitely have something to write about.

Here are some secrets of creative writing I want to share with you:

  1. CREATIVE IDEAS USUALLY COME IN BUNDLES

You will soon discover that most of the times, creative ideas will come to you instead of you thinking hard for something to write about.  You will also notice that a lot of ideas flock your mind at the same time. In my experience I can have as much as ten interesting creative ideas to blog about. You shouldn’t be worried as to which one is the best. All you are expected to do is to capture all of them and start writing on each of the topics one by one. I normally start with the topic I am most inspired about till I am done with all the ideas.

  1. CREATIVE IDEAS WILL COME TO YOU AT THE WEIRDEST OF PLACES

It is no use scheduling a particular time to think creatively. As I said earlier, these ideas will come to you naturally. The interesting aspect of these ideas is that it will mostly come to you in places you least expect, at the shower, washroom, night club, church or when you are involved in an activity that is completely unrelated to the idea. The key thing here is to find means of capturing these ideas.

As one writer quotes “The biggest lie I tell myself is that I don’t need to write it down, I will remember it”. If you don’t writes down a good  idea immediately, you are bound to forget it.

I always make sure a pen and a pad is within my reach, even at the washroom. Your smart phone can also become your most prized asset in your ability to capture an inspirational idea which drops from nowhere in any format suitable at that instant; audio, video ,notes, etc.

  1. YOU RECEIVE IDEAS IN RELATION TO YOUR CAPABILITY

One useful secret to discover is that any idea that drops in your mind is proof that you have the necessary knowledge and experience to write about it. Ideas are normally a collection of experience and knowledge deeply embedded in your subconscious mind until the relevant time for it to find expression. So don’t second guess your ability to pull off a write up. As you start, your subconscious will release all the relevant references and information needed to pull it off successfully.

  1. YOUR THOUGHTS BECOME CLEARER WHEN YOU WRITE

Sometimes you will feel there is so much going on in your head and can’t seem to clearly put your thoughts together. Waiting to have your head cleared up will not help much. What you must do the moment you have the faintest inspiration is to start writing. Writing is the surest way of organizing and getting clarity with your thoughts.

  1. EVERY IDEA IS RELEVANT

As a writer you will discover that it is much fun to write about topics you personally can relate to. It does not always work like that. You will discover that sometimes you will have to work on content you can’t relate much to. This requires much discipline to get t done.

The most difficult phase is then your ability to convince yourself that the content you have written is relevant; the less you can relate to it personally; the more difficult it becomes to believe in it.

A writer’s greatest fear is that their work won’t appeal to its intended audience. This is seldom true anyway. So when you begin to feel that way, know that you are not alone.

  1. THE MYTH ABOUT FINDING YOUR NICHE

You will hear that as a writer or blogger, you must find your niche in order to succeed. You don’t have to bother about this as a beginner. Just write on the thoughts which come to you. Feel free, don’t think whether it fits  in line with the previous blog or not.

You will discover after a few months of writing that you have a bias towards a particular cause, it could be lifestyle, fashion or social issues.

Once you discover this clear pattern, you can now focus your energy in developing that niche and reputation for yourself.

  1. CREATIVITY MUST BE FED ALWAYS

Another secret of successful creative writing is that it must be fed constantly to enable you to be consistent.

The more information and experience you feed your mind, the stronger your creative acumen, so make sure you always give your mind something to chew on: It could be podcasts, movies, music, travelling and interacting with different people and culture, etc..

So let nothing stop your noble ambition of writing now. Please do well to share with me your experiences after you put the above tips into use.

I am really amazed by this write up. I got hooked with first line and I look back. When I write things it comes with a title and then I have to start building on the title as it relates me. It could quite tiring because I could come up with a lot of topics to write on but I just don’t know how to start… Lovely blog

I’d always carry a pen and a paper. It really helps ’cause we tend to forget most ideas when you write them down.

Sure, a short pencil they say is better than a long memory. Always write it down and do well to give me updates of your blogging journey.
      Cheers
